Meditation and journaling are the simplest, most effective things you can do every day to be calmer and happier. It’s been proven over and over again that shifting your focus to the positive can dramatically improve your happiness. The key is consistency.
The first thing you need to understand about Journaling Yourself from Crappy to Happy, is that it starts with making space for it … every single day, no matter what. Commit to it.
What do I mean by making space? You need to make a daily date with yourself. You need to schedule it in until it becomes a habit. Habits are done automatically. Just like you walk directly to the coffee pot every morning without thinking about it, meditating and journaling will also become automatic.
In order for you to transition into this with complete ease, you’ll want to take some time and plan ahead what meditations you will be using day and night. Write them down. Have the links or files ready. When you are prepared ahead of time it makes it super fast and easy to just dive right in with no time wasted.
Plan, plan, plan. Failing to plan ahead is why most people fail when they start something new. You’ll need to sit down and map out what meditations you will be doing for the week or even the whole month. Take note of how long the meditation is and plan accordingly. Write them down, including the links or at the very least know how to get to the music file quickly. Have your journal papers printed, pen ready and any other creature comfort tools you like to be surrounded with during your meditation and journaling session. Like candles, essential oils and diffuser, eye mask, crystals and stones, blanket, water bottle, etc.
Now you know how much time is required for each daily morning and evening meditation session, what will you need to let go of or rearrange in your life in order to fit this new exciting self-discovery habit into your daily routine?
Perhaps when you wake up in the morning the first thing you do is lie in bed and scroll through your social media. You need to admit to yourself that this is not productive. It’s simply a habit and you can change it. You can either leave your phone in a different room while you sleep or place it across the room so that in order to access it you must get out of your comfy bed. Now you can exchange this non-productive activity with your fabulous meditation time.
When you are first starting out you may need to get up in the morning a little bit earlier in order to make the space for this to become a happy habit. What other things can you give up or switch up in order to make this priority in your life?
Every single one of us has the exact same amount of time in our days. The only difference between us all … is what we spend our time doing. So don’t waste time sitting around waiting for an opportunity to appear … create it! Success doesn’t come to you, you must move to it.
